Thanks for your interest in helping with our Free Fridge! This fridge is open 24/7 for anyone to take food or leave food from. Below are some answers to questions that will help you prepare to donate or volunteer!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Fridge/Pantry is located at Eastside Church on Moreland Avenue. The address is: 468 Moreland Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30316, USA.  The structure is just past the front doors of the church on the Moreland side. There is street parking on Metropolitan Ave (marked in red), and there is a church parking lot across Metropolitan (red box), behind the old Long John Silvers building.

    • Non-perishable items

    • Sealed Grab & Go Meals (Sandwiches, wraps, salads, pasta salads, anything that doesn’t require cooking)

    • Homemade Goods (Must be labeled w/ use-by date/date added to the fridge + ingredients)

    • Fresh eggs (w/ use-by date)

    • Unopened dairy products (w/use-by date)

    • Hygiene products (individually wrapped toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, etc.)

    • Pet Food

    • Cooked meats/lunch meat

    • Personal Protective Equipment (masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, hand warmers, etc.)

    • Individually wrapped plastic utensils

    • Condiment packs

    • Baby food + diapers + formula

    • Clothing - in the aqua/blue shelter

    • Raw meat (even if it’s frozen)

    • Alcohol

    • Unlabeled, multi-ingredient items

    • Half-eaten leftovers

    • Unsealed prepared meals

    • Catering pans of food

    • Expired items

    • Sharp objects (scissors, knives, needles, etc.)

    • Oral medication

    • Prescription drugs

    • Condoms, pregnancy tests

    • Pet supplies (cat litter, brushes, flea treatment, etc.)

    • Toys/Home Decor

    • Anything you wouldn't feed your family

  • All food should have a label that includes:

    • What the item is

    • What the ingredients are

    • Known allergen information - milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, or sesame

    • Date made or expiration date

  • Bring anything to the pantry and fridge and it will be greatly appreciated by all!  Some of our guests need prepared meals; some of our guests like to cook for themselves and need ingredients to do so. This is the Amazon Wishlist for the Pantry/fridge if you'd like to order to be delivered to the church.

  • Not right now, maybe in the future.

  • Yes, please! Period packs can be packed into sandwich-sized Ziploc bags and should contain: 4-5 pads, 4-5 tampons, 4-5 liners. If you don't have all of these, totally fine - pack what you have, it will still be used and appreciated.

  • Coordinating food distributions, cooking meals & making food drops, contacting local businesses for donations, and spreading the word on social media are all great ways for you to be actively involved without doing wellness checks. This is the Amazon Wishlist for the pantry/fridge.

  • A number of volunteers have had luck asking the community for their recycled take-out boxes on Nextdoor or neighborhood Facebook groups. You can also order various-sized containers on Amazon. We've tried many kinds, and like these eco-friendly ones- rectangular bowls, 12oz soup bowls, 2oz souffle cups, 6in clamshells, & compostable sandwich bags.

  • Yes! If there’s anything you want to use to create a dish for the fridges, your own family, friends, etc., please don’t feel weird about taking or using anything. That is what mutual aid is all about. We are helping each other together!
