At Eastside we accomplish this through our four core resurrection practices: worship of God, growth in holiness, communal service, and the enactment of justice. It is our desire to be a church wherein individuals in Christian community experience life transformation through God’s resurrecting power and are then sent forth as God’s agents of hope in our world.

Today, Eastside is a church filled with young and growing families. On a given Sunday roughly a third of those present in worship head to our children’s wing for Sunday School. Our ministry with children is one of the most defining and growing elements of our congregation. At Eastside we are seeking to do our part in raising up the next generation of radical followers of Jesus through the intentional discipleship of our children.

We are seeking an energetic, motivated individual to oversee and direct our growing ministry with children. It is an exciting time to join this committed team as our church continues to grow in number and expand our involvement on Atlanta’s east side. This is a half time, salaried position.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience leading teams of children’s ministry volunteers
  • Ability to work with various age groups – from infants to pre-teens, and their parents
  • Strong leadership skills – specifically, the ability to motivate diverse and talented people to

    serve the local church and the world

  • Experience in creating and modifying lesson plans
  • Experience with Godly Play curriculum
  • Strong verbal, time management, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be strategic and prioritize duties effectively
  • Excellent team player with strong team building and development skills
  • Highly organized, self-starting, and independent
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to respond rapidly to change in a proactive manner
  • A desire to work with a diverse group of people in terms of age, race, socioeconomics and

    sexual identity

Primary Responsibilities to Sunday School include:

  • Regular presence on Sunday mornings
  • Oversight of children’s worship time and Godly Play Sunday School
  • Facilitating necessary Godly Play curriculum training for Sunday School teachers
  • Volunteer management for Sunday School and timely communication of lessons to

    scheduled volunteer teachers

  • The use of Church Community Builder for project management and children’s check-in
  • Oversight of nursery staff

    General Responsibilities include:

  • All recruitment, training, management and scheduling of volunteers in all areas of the Children’s Ministry
  • Provide pastoral care and connection for volunteers, parents, families and children
  • Manage volunteers and ministries according to Safe Sanctuary regulations, including:

o Oversight of volunteer applications and background checks on new volunteers o Conduct annual volunteer training for Safe Sanctuaries and CPR certification
o Conduct annual review of Eastside’s Safe Sanctuary Policy to be ratified by our

Board of Trustees

  • Plan and implement quarterly special outreach events such as Trunk Or Treats, Easter

    Egg Hunts, Back to School Bashes, etc.

  • Oversee our children’s participation in the worshipping life of the church through special

    liturgical events (e.g. Palm Sunday Processional, Christmas ensembles)

  • Oversee cleaning and décor of children’s wing and schedule necessary workdays
  • Manage supplies needed for crafts and activities

    Additional duties include:

    • Regular participation in staff meetings and occasional leadership events/retreats
    • Engagement in the overall life of the church by participation in its ministries
    • Work with the lead pastor in developing a process for Confirmation at Eastside
    • Update and maintain web content on the Eastside Children’s Ministry page
    • Utilize Eastside Kid’s Collective social medial accounts for marketing and promotion of events to the community
